Why was Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Program started?
A team of rising professionals of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area recognized that many individuals within our communities are doing commendable and noteworthy things towards the betterment of our area and wanted to publicly recognize their work and accomplishments. In 2016 Uplift LA’s inaugural 40 Under 40 Honorees were recognized amongst the community receiving much praise and many accolades.
What are the ten categories of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Program?
The ten categories of the Program include Building LA, Creative Geniuses, Economic Development, Education, Emerging Leaders, Entrepreneurs, Health and Wellness, Local Government and Civic Leaders, Local Heroes and Volunteers. Category descriptions can be found by clicking here.
When am I able to submit a nomination for Uplift LA's 40 Under 40 Program?
The Nomination Period is open for a short window each year. After an individual is nominated the individual is asked to confirm their nomination and have the option to accept or politely decline the nomination. The Nomination Period is typically announced each year through an email process as well as on Uplift LA’s Facebook, Linkedin and/or Twitter pages.
When am I able to vote for Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Program?
Voting is open for a short window after nominations are collected, confirmed and accepted. The voting window provides enough time for the community to read and learn about all of the nominees to make an educated selection when submitting their voting ballot.
Am I able to to vote for only one or some of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 categories?
We encourage those voting to take the time to read over the engaging and thoughtful nominations of all of the rising professionals committed to the betterment of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area as one vote per category is required for a valid vote submission.
How many times can I vote during Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Voting Phase?
We invite our communities to vote as often as they like, only one submission per email address. The first submission from each valid email address will be used, all others will be removed.
Is there an age limitation for the individual receiving one of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Awards?
Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Awards are geared towards recognizing rising professionals that are working towards the betterment of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area. While there is no minimum age, honorees must be under the age of 40 years old as of December 31st of the program year.
How many times can an individual be nominated for one of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Awards?
An individual can be nominated for one of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Awards each year during the annual nomination phase. We encourage you to submit as much information about the work that your nominee is doing for a robust and thorough nomination.
I’ve been one of Uplift LA’s past 40 Under 40 Honorees, am I still eligible to be honored again?
A previous honoree of Uplift LA’s past 40 Under 40 Program is eligible for up to a total of three times as long as the recognition is of a category not previously awarded.
How many honorees will be recognized each year through Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Program?
New in 2020, Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Program will showcase 40 rising professionals of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area at its event but will recognize only one honoree per category as one of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 ten awardees.
What is the difference between a nominee, honoree and awardee?
A nominee, honoree and awardee are all identifiers for a community member within the Uplift LA 40 Under 40 Program:
- A nominee is a community member whom is under the age of 40 that is nominated for one of the Program’s awards
- An honoree is a community member that has accepted the nomination and is being as one of the top 4 indiviuals of their category as a result of year’s community votes
- An awardee is an honoree whom has been chosen by the Program’s Awardee Adhoc Committee that most exemplifies the meaning of the category they are being recognized in, align with the misson and values of Uplift LA and are a contributing member of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area through the aspects of Living, Working and Playing in these communities
Annually there are numerous nominees as a result of nominations made by community members, 40 honorees, 4 per each of the 10 categories as a result of community votes and only 10 awardees, 1 per each of the 10 categories.
Are only Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area Chamber of Commerce and/or Uplift LA members and its affiliates eligible for one of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Awards?
Not at all, any rising professionals that are working towards the betterment of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area are eligible to be recognized as one of Uplift LA’s 40 Under 40 Honorees.
How many nominations have been submitted and how honorees have been recognized through the 40 Under 40 Program?
As of September 11, 2020, the program has received over 440 nominations. Each of those nominations highlighting the many great accomplishments and contributions our young + rising professionals are making towards the betterment of the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Area.
Those 440 nominations have resulted in over 6,800 community votes which in turn have resulted in recognizing 130 unique individuals under the age of 40 as one of the program’s honorees.
