Amina Hassan
2022 Nominee
Best in MISSION-BASED ORGANIZATIONS
Executive Director
Her Safety Net
Amina is a young and aspiring leader trying to support the disadvantaged and marginalized members of our communities. Amina founded Her Safety Net to protect women and young girls from sexual, and other gender-based violence. In the short time she was in business she has shown great leadership by forming partnerships with Safe Voice, Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, Bates College, and AK Health and Social Services.
Other than founding a successful and meaningful nonprofit organization her leadership has been outstanding. She recently got appointed to serve on the Maine CDCs’ Office of Population Health as an advisory council and as well to be Chairwoman of the AK collaborative a four-member nonprofit coalition. In a field of community-based organizations dominated by male leaders and hailing from a background where women are not supposed to lead Amina has shown perseverance to overcome the challenges and become a great leader of the Lewiston and Auburn community.
