Professional Impact

Danny Gay is a versatile and accomplished theater professional whose career spans acting, technical direction, and arts education. With a BA in Theater Arts from the University of Southern Maine, he has held key roles at multiple theaters, including the Community Little Theater in Lewiston-Auburn (as Technical Director and Lighting Chair) and the Monmouth Community Players, where he founded and now leads the thriving educational theater program. Recently hired as the Drama/Theater teacher for Winthrop Public Schools, Danny combines his technical expertise, creative vision, and leadership skills to cultivate high-quality productions and engaging educational experiences for students of all ages.

Personal Passions

Beyond his professional roles, Danny’s love of theater drives him to volunteer extensively across the region, supporting productions in acting, lighting design, and stage management. He especially enjoys performances for young audiences, blending his creativity with mentorship and community engagement. Outside the theater, he enjoys reading young adult fantasy and science fiction, spending quality time with his family, and nurturing emerging talent in the local arts community.

Danny is deeply connected to the vibrant arts scene in Lewiston-Auburn, supporting and performing at local theaters while highlighting the region’s creative culture. He encourages exploration of community theaters, professional productions at the Public Theater, and arts programs at L/A Arts. His favorite local spots for dining and gathering include Baxter Brewing Tasting Room, Davinci’s, and Lotus Restaurant on Center Street, all of which reflect the area’s lively and diverse community offerings.
