Adam Platz
2024 Nominee
Best in BUSINESS
CFO/Owner
Jar Cannabis Co
Adam Platz is a rare Individual. First, he is rare because he could be nominated in at least three of the Uplift L/A categories. First in business, Adam, through his work as Director with Baxter Outdoors and the Great Falls Brewfest, Adam helped bring thousands of people to our areas to play, spend and recreate in our outdoors, tourism establishments, hotels, restaurants and much more. With the opening of The Pub at Baxter, Adam served as the marketing guru behind the scenes as well as working in The Pub to bring to life the vision of The Pub’s investors and supporters to create an environment to be a catalyst for a community centric establishment that brings networking, socializing, music and fun to a historic part of Lewiston’s Downtown. Adam helped guide the growth of the Pub – which has become an institution in L/A. He then moved on to his own business venture– currently serving as the CFO and Co-Owner of Jar Cannabis Co.
Second, Adam could be nominated in Mission based organizations. Adam has previously served on the City of Auburn Conservation Working Group and the board of the Maine Lakes Association. In addition, he currently serves on the Auburn City Council and is the Mayor’s appointee to the Auburn School Committee. When running for the Council, Adam clearly said his focus was education and sought and accepted the position on the School Committee — in spite of the fact that he and his wife Rebecca were about to have their first child.
Third, Adam could be nominated for leadership in civic/municipal services. It is very rare that a citizen runs for Auburn City Council at such a young age. The norm for Auburn (and most municipalities) are elected leaders who are middle aged – or older. Adam’s status as the youngest member of the City Council helps him bring a different perspective to Council deliberations.
Born and raised in Auburn, Maine, Adam developed an appreciation for mountains, lakes, and outdoor recreation at a very young age. Following college and long-distance hikes of the Appalachian Trail (’09) and Pacific Crest Trail (’13), Adam resettled in Auburn which has become his home and he is putting incredible effort into being a leader for the community.
When he began running for City Council, Adam’s platform was simple, “City governance works best when the public has a voice. As a candidate for City Council, I pledge to engage in dialogue, to listen to all perspectives, and to value the input of Auburn’s citizens. I will prioritize education, responsible economic development, and protection of our valuable natural resources. As a lifelong resident of Auburn and a graduate of ELHS, I believe immensely in the strength and resilience of this community. If given the opportunity, I look forward to giving back!” And he has done just that!
