Professional Impact
Andrew Morong is a transformational leader in higher education and athletics whose impact on students and the broader Lewiston-Auburn community is both wide-reaching and deeply personal. As Dean of Enrollment Management at Central Maine Community College (CMCC), Andrew has guided the college through a period of unprecedented growth. Under his leadership, CMCC has added more than 1,600 students in just three years, making it one of the fastest-growing colleges in Maine.
Personal Passions
He has implemented innovative recruitment strategies, strengthened partnerships with local schools, and championed programs that make higher education more accessible and affordable for students across the region. His vision and leadership ensure that CMCC continues to be a gateway to opportunity for students from all backgrounds. In addition to his administrative leadership, Andrew has distinguished himself nationally as the head coach of CMCC’s women’s basketball program. Over twelve seasons, he has built one of the most successful programs in the country, capturing three USCAA National Championships and an astounding eight consecutive Yankee Conference Championships.

Beyond athletic achievements, Andrew’s program has set the standard for academic excellence—recently being recognized by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as the second-best academic two-year women’s basketball program in the nation. His student-athletes graduate not only as champions on the court but as leaders prepared to contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through his dual roles as Dean of Enrollment and head coach, Andrew embodies the power of education to change lives. He is deeply committed to helping students succeed—whether that means opening the doors of higher education to a first-generation college student or mentoring athletes to achieve both academic and athletic excellence. His leadership, passion, and proven results make him a deserving honoree for Uplift LA’s Finest Under 40 recognition.
