Nominator’s Comments:
“Michael is quiet leader who willingly lends a hand as well as his expertise to help make the LA community stronger. It is not uncommon to see a successful business, non profit, or program and learn Michael had some hand in helping them get to where they are now. Notably, Michael has helped Tree Street Youth build a strong foundation through his board work and helping in legal areas so their staff can focus on what they do best- helping our youth excel. Uplift’s amazing program Y-not, that engages youth in better understanding our communities while also encouraging civic engagement and networking, was launched under Michael’s leadership on the YPLAA board. Additionally, Michael has helped many of our New Mainers navigate the complicated asylum seeker application process through pro-bono representation. Its not uncommon for local attorney’s to give back to the their community, however, Michael does it in a thoughtful, caring way that truly helps strengthen the community around him.”
