Health Promotion Coordinator

Healthy Androscoggin

Executive Director

Community Cares Backpack Program

Hannah’s passion is in helping her community- 100% and in all aspects of her life. At Healthy Androscoggin Hannah coordinates the lead poisoning prevention education and awareness programs for Androscoggin County and the cities of Lewiston and Auburn, she does this by going into homes to teach families about how to be lead safe, by connecting people to healthy home resources, and by engaging with community organizations to promote lead screenings for children and lead safe strategies. She attends community events on nights and weekends to make sure she is reaching all community members. She has created new partnerships and innovative programs with local health and wellness organizations. Helping other’s is part of her heart and soul, people see this and engage in programming because she clearly cares about them and is someone who gets things done. Since she has been at Healthy Androscoggin, she has also completed her bachelor’s degree in marketing and was recently accepted into MBA program at UMaine. She does all this while raising three fierce little girls and also running the nonprofit she created herself, the Community Cares Backpack Program. CCBP provides school kids in RSU 4 with easy-to-prepare and nutritious meals to have outside of school hours. Hannah volunteers her time to manage this program by purchasing food, filling the backpacks, coordinating delivery to each school in the district, and fundraising for the program’s sustainability. Part of the vision behind this project is ensuring that kids have the energy to focus on learning. The organization not only helps feed children, but it is also helping to alleviate the cost of groceries for families in rural communities and helping reduce the weight that teachers often take on of making sure their students’ basic needs are met. For this work Hannah was recognized as a 2023 Outstanding Women by Coast 93.1. Hannah is one of the most genuine and caring people I have ever met- her community is better because of her and her work, and while she doesn’t seek recognition or awards, she more than deserves them!!
