Professional Impact

Since beginning her teaching career in Norman, Oklahoma, Jaye has dedicated herself to helping young learners grow and thrive. After moving to Lewiston in 2018, she discovered a deep passion for multilingual education and the diverse, resilient community she now calls home. At McMahon Elementary School, Jaye fosters a classroom environment built on care, inclusion, and encouragement—helping students feel supported both in and beyond the classroom. As Vice President of the Lewiston Education Association, she represents more than 800 educators and staff, and she recently helped organize the district’s first professional development event open to all employees, establishing what is now an annual tradition of collaboration and growth.

Personal Passions

Outside the classroom, Jaye brings the same energy and commitment to everything she does. A proud University of Oklahoma alum and devoted football fan, she can often be found cheering on her team alongside her husband, Dakota. Together, they share their home with three dogs and a cat who are truly part of the family. In addition to her teaching and union leadership, Jaye serves on the Auburn School Committee, extending her impact by supporting students and educators across the Lewiston–Auburn region.

Love for Androscoggin

For Jaye, Lewiston–Auburn is a community that offers connection, culture, and endless opportunities to engage. She loves the area’s diverse calendar of local events, from the Great Falls Balloon Festival and Blues and Brews to the Dempsey Challenge, Pride celebrations, and the Triple Crown 5K races. When it comes to dining and relaxation, she recommends local favorites like El Pachos, DiVinci’s, and Mac’s, or enjoying a drink at Baxter Brewing, Underground Brew House, or Gritty’s. To her, Androscoggin is a place that celebrates togetherness—a vibrant community with something for everyone.
