Nominator’s Comments:
“Spencer has been an active member of the LA community since moving to the community after his graduation from Colby College in 2016. He began his career as an intern at Tree Street Youth and continued to grow to coordinate that program. From there he took on a year-long position through a collaboration with Lewiston Public Schools analyzing and researching why high school youth were off track to graduate. From there he facilitated a team with district and community leaders to design a new way of doing high school which has led to the creation of the new Next STEP program in the district. Additionally Spencer has done work with Seeds of Peace and a number of local collaborative groups focused on local racial and social justice work.” – J. Sleeper-Whiting, Lewiston, Maine
