She loves the dining scene in LA and describes it this way…
“Living for many years and continuing to work in downtown Lewiston I frequent the restaurants on Lisbon Street. Where I go has as much to do with occasion and feeling. Mother India is a place I go with a close friend for a shared meal, chai tea and intimate conversation. Boba is my go-to place for a big bowl of pho and a cocktail with myself after a long week of work. DaVinci’s is where my daughter and I go out for a Mommy and me dinner or where we take visiting family. Sonder and Dram and Baxter Brewing are definite places for ladies and/or date nights. Forage was, for a long time, like a second home when my husband worked there (even as a New Yorker I believe they are the best bagels!). Wei Li’s is a family dinner favorite and now since going gluten free we are regulars to Tripp’s Cafe.”
From her nomination, “For the past 15 years at the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center, Sherie has been integral to the success of many local food and food access programs including the Lewiston Farmers’ Market, the St. Mary’s Food Pantry, and the innovative Good Food Bus. Sherie is also committed to land access and social justice; she serves on the board for Land In Common community land trust, and also as a core member of the Central Maine chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice. Sherie was also a founding member of what became the RAISE-Op Housing Cooperative. Sherie, with her partner, now own a home in Lewiston.”
